TECHNICAL ARTICLES - PEER REVIEWED - Using PTFE-Lined Thrust Bearing Pads in Hydro Units - Ontario Power Generation has been installing pads lined with PTFE -- Commonly known as Teflon(R) -- In the thrust bearings of selected hydro generating units since 1999. By the end of 2002, the utility expects to have PTFE-lined pads in 11 units.
