Influence of amount of reclaimed asphalt pavement and asphalt using warm mix asphalt method on asphalt concrete wearing course
On the road improvements with milling or crushed methods, asphalt peel or Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) is only discarded and not utilized properly. A paved mixture processed from a new material is oftenly used in pavement construction. However, there is a problem when RAP trash continues to accumulate and the availability of new materials (e.g., aggregate) and natural asphalt continues to decrease. The present study aims to utilize recycled asphalt or RAP as asphalt mixed material, so as to reduce the amount of garbage. The research method used was experiment with Marshall Test done on RAP material. This research used warm mix asphalt (WMA) mixture method by adding zeolite to powder mixing process of Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course (AC-WC) type. The mixing process was carried out at a warm temperature of 120°C. Lower temperatures than those of hot mix asphalt can reduce fuel use and also the emissions of the produced carbon. The mixture with a composition of 39.92% RAP, 56.40% new aggregate and 3.68% new asphalt is identified to have the best mixture in accordance with Bina Marga standards.
