Impacts of online learning resources on learning experience of civil engineering students
Online learning is gaining its stands in the market, with significant amount of resources being invested, in the academic teaching and learning. Learning management systems had been incorporated to assist students with their learning. Studies had proved on the effectiveness of online learning on students’ learning performance. However, studies shown that online learning might not be fully effective as compared to face-to-face class. This study aims to investigate on the impact of online learning resources in relation to computer lab, on the learning experience of civil engineering students in a higher institution. A series of Revit software computer lab-related demonstration videos were created and the video links were delivered to students, via Moodle (i.e. a learning management system), on top of the face-to-face class, throughout the entire semester. Questionnaire survey were used to collect students’ opinion on the effectiveness of such videos on their learning behaviour. Results shown that majority of the students enjoyed the videos and agreed such resources could help in their learning experience and behaviour. This study could lead the future pedagogical research in developing supporting online resources to enhance smoother students’ learning experience.
