Application of object-oriented image classification in urban areas
High-resolution multispectral images provide rich spatial and contextual information. The report considers the object-oriented classification as a significant method for automated extraction of vector data from orthophoto images. In terms of technology, several main stages for the implementation of this type of classification have been identified and analyzed: First of all, preliminary processing of the available data is performed, which includes radiometric corrections; In the next extremely important stage the principle of segmentation is used, through which the separation of the objects from the image takes place; Then an object-oriented classification is performed based on the segmented objects by filtering for the classification of each individual object in a given class; The last stage covers the definition of rules through which the classification is performed and increases the accuracy of the obtained classified objects. The newly obtained classified image can be used for analysis and research of buildings and facilities, as well as for the extraction of visual information and the current map of the specific area.
