Clay Strength Increase Caused by Repeated Loading
The influence of stress history in the form of a series of repeated stress applications in increasing the resistance to deformation of compacted specimens of silty clay is described and possible causes of the effect are presented. The significance of the results in assessing the design life of highway pavements is examined.
