Characterization and Durability of FRP Structural Shapes and Materials
Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite structural shapes and systems represent a significant opportunity to enhance national infrastructures through improved durability and by enabling rapid replacement techniques. We present an overview of the materials, component fabrication techniques, methods of analysis for stiffness and strength, component durability issues, and design codes and guidelines for these shapes and systems. The state-of-the-art is presented and suggestions for paths forward are outlined.
