Determining the Average Asphalt Temperature of Flexible Pavement
This study develops a regression model to determine the average temperature within asphalt layer using the surface temperature. The temperature data was collected from an instrumentation section on Interstate 40 (I-40) near the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA from October 2012 to October 2013. The developed model was then validated using the temperature data from October 2014 to June 2015 which was not used to develop the regression equation. Asphalt depth, at which the average temperature occurs within the pavement layer, was also calculated. Result shows that the mean depth for average temperature was found to be 2.54 inch.
