Catastrophic Inundation from Sea Level Rise and its Policy Implication
A 1.5 m sea level rise by 2100 will cause calamitous inundation to Miami-Dade and Broward Counties and the Everglades in South Florida. Inundation processes are non-linear: inundation is gradual before reaching a tipping point, and speeds up rapidly afterwards due to the regional topography. Accelerated sea level rise will cause the tipping point to be reached sooner by amplifying non-linear processes, and must be considered in policy-making.
