Construction System for Lunar Base
We have studied construction systems on the moon. The investigation of construction methods was performed on seven tasks. Through discussion, we generated several concepts for new construction methods. Then, we performed trade studies to get the most suitable system for lunar base construction. Construction processes and equipment which consume large amounts of electric power have also been discussed. Construction planning for lunar base depends on energy consumption policy. In this paper, we calculated the energy used for construction work on the moon. Estimation of energy consumption shows that the development of energy saving construction method is very much important where soil excavation and movement are concerned.
