Asphalt Layers' Shear Stress Analysis Method and its Simplified Model for Rutting Study in Asphalt Pavement
The shear stress of asphalt layers caused by wheel load plays a crucial role in rutting. A finite model of asphalt pavement was built and verified the validity. By comparative analysis, the median line perpendicular to the loading rectangle long side on loading surface was the most shear stressed section. A proposal was put forward that the average of shear stress for every sub-layer under positions 3, 4, and 5 on the outer half of the median line was applied to be shear stress of this sub-layer. The shear stress curves from this method had a stable shape and complied with the objective law that the shear stress of upper and middle asphalt layer was relatively high. A formula was put forward to simplify the analysis process of shear stress and verified based on large-scale calculations and improved probability density function of Gamma Distribution.
