Geosynthetic Reinforced Full Scale Test Embankment on Soft Soil
In 1995 a geosynthetic reinforced full scale test embankment was built and loaded until failure. Different sections were built by using different systems of geotextile layout: one section with four layers of nonwoven geotextile of low modulus, one section using a high strength composite geotextile, and an unreinforced (control) test section. The results and benefits of different geosynthetic reinforcement systems on the performance of the embankment are highlighted. The full scale test results are verified using different design methods for geosynthetic reinforced embankments on soft soil. Generally, a good correlation between design results and full scale test results were achieved.
