The Pulp Mill of the Cliff Paper Company of Niagara Falls, N. Y.
Previous to the completion of the tunnel and canal of the Niagara Power Company, the only water power available at Niagara Falls was that furnished by the Niagara Falls Hydraulic Power and Manufacturing Company. The water used by this company is drawn from the river at a point above the head of the rapids about a mile above the falls, and conveyed through the city to a point about one-half mile below the falls by a canal 4 400 ft. long. The canal discharges into a basin running nearly parallel with the edge of the high bank and about 350 ft. from it. From this• basin water is drawn to supply about 10 000 H. P. to the various mills shown in Fig. 1.
