Analysis of Frictional Characteristics between Different Types of Geosynthetics by Small Scale Shear Tester
The frictional properties between geotextiles and geomembranes, geotextiles and geogrids are very important to interpret their friction mechanism between its interface in this system. Shear stress of three difference type shear rates and their normal stress were evaluated. Shear stress was proportionally increased with the increase of the normal stress and the post-peak strength between geotexile and geomembrane decreased by polishing effect in the surface of geomembrane. Friction property of needle punched nonwoven geotextile was better than that of spunbonded nonwoven geotextile and their fiber diameter and fiber length were influenced by the coefficient of friction. At last, friction property between geotextile and geogrid was depended upon the cross-linked rib of geogrid, but not influenced by its coated resin.
