Low Maintenance Track through Geosynthetic Application
Large dynamic loading which is applied on railway tracks in cycles can result in deterioration of track geometry. Normal maintenance measures such as tamping could lead if not enough satisfactory, to renewal, which is expensive and disruptive to revenue traffic. In this paper the application of geosynthetics for maintenance of existing ballasted tracks is investigated. Especially the costs and benefits expected are presented.
