Eine Plattform für die Wissenschaft: Bauingenieurwesen, Architektur und Urbanistik
To accommodate a major expansion at the University of Hong Kong, engineers were faced with, literally, a mountain of a problem—a mountain slope that stood in the way of the construction work. The solution was to excavate two caverns inside the mountain to house a pair of relocated saltwater service reservoirs and to move a freshwater service reservoir to a new ground-level site. In this way space was created for new buildings on the university’s Centennial Campus.
