From Construction Project Success to Integrated Construction Project Selection
It is noted that project success and project selection and their corresponding criteria and factors have been treated as two separate project management topics. Project success and project selection have not been related to each other yet, but according to our research, they share at least fourteen common traits. This paper seeks to identify the common overlapping themes, which can be used to form a new common model known as the "Integrated Construction Project Selection Process". The model, which is based on the level of success of a construction company's previous projects, uses this information in the company's multi criteria project selection process. As a result, the model enhances the level of project success when a company selects a project. This integrated construction project selection model will be of considerable value to both senior managers and general practitioners within the construction operational environment as it will enable the industry to draw benefits from an integrated approach rather than from two disparate systems.
