Behavior of Partially Encased Composite Columns Using High-Strength Steel—Ultimate Load and Fire Condition
Partially encased columns show large ultimate loads needing only minimal space. This can further be improved by using high strength materials. In this paper we present tests on partially encased columns using high-strength steel. Special emphasis was laid on strength tests of high-tensile-steel under fire condition because the steel of the flanges would be directly exposed to high temperatures in the event of a fire.
