Comparative Research on Mechanical Behaviors between SDS Piles and HS Piles
Based on the specialties of the drilling augers, the piling equipment and the construction techniques of soil displacement screw piles (known as SDS piles), two groups of full-scale load tests between SDS piles and half screw piles (known as HS piles) were carried out in Weihai City, China. Besides the tests, the differences of mechanical behaviors and the bearing-deformation performances between the two types of piling system are further analyzed. Moreover, the mechanical properties and technical advantages of SDS piles are also discussed in detail. The investigations show that SDS piles have more technical advantages than HS piles in the aspects of bearing and deformation characteristics.
