Test of Deployable Dome-Shaped Space Truss
This paper is concerned with the shape formation of a deployable dome-shaped space truss by post-tensioning in bottom chords. The structure has gone through small-scale tests in the laboratory and computer analysis using MSC/NASTRAN. The feasibility of the proposed shape formation method and the reliability of the established geometric model were confirmed through experimental investigation on a small scale steel model and finite element analysis in the model. And the geometric nonlinear finite element analysis was performed with the model. In this paper we can suggest the possibility of shaping formation in space truss. Potentially this procedure can offer economics over traditional methods involving the heavy cranes and scaffolding of construction for dome-shaped space truss.
