Industrial Waste Disposal: Introduction
The conservation of water resources is of importance to the health and prosperity of the people of the United States. Life in modern cities is impossible without adequate public water supplies, and the protection and promotion of the public health demand that such water be pure and palatable. Industry must have water for use in processes of manufacture, and for many industries such water must be clean. In agricultural areas clean streams are needed for watering stock, and the trend toward outdoor recreation is increasing the need for clean streams for that purpose in suitable localities.
