A Now Formula for the Strength of Columns
The writer wishes to present a new formula for the strength of columns, which, in so far as he has been able to test it, seems to be more accurate and to possess wider scope than any of those in common use. The derivation of the formula will be given briefly and then the applications of it which lead him to think it valuable. The object is, of course, to have it further tested by experimental results. It can, at least, be shown in this paper that it is worth while to thus test it thoroughly.
