Biot-Pride Electrokinetic Wave Propagation in Porous Rocks
We designed and developed an experimental setup in which acoustic to electromagnetic (EM) wave conversions at interfaces can be measured. Experimental results are compared with a full-waveform theoretical model based on the Sommerfeld approach. After amplitude scaling, the measured spatial distribution of the electric wave field is in excellent agreement with the theoretical prediction. A strong dependency of the reflected electric signal on the sample thickness was recorded. This dependency is not present in the acoustic signal.
