Least-Cost Design of Urban Drainage Systems for Various Levels of Quantity and Quality Management
A methodology for selecting the minimum cost design of urban drainage systems is described. The method uses PCSWMM and a genetic algorithm routine to examine best management practices such as infiltration, detention and retention systems, and to select the best combination of urban stormwater infrastructure and their sizes. Constraints of pollutant concentration and flooding downstream are met while tangible costs (construction, operation and maintenance) are minimized.
