Load Test Results — Large Diameter Helical Pipe Piles
This paper will review tests performed on large diameter (219 mm (8.625 in)) helical pipe piles with varying helical configurations (406 mm (16 in) to 762 mm (30 in)) at different locations. Included are descriptions of test pile, description of test procedure, installation procedure, soil profile, and a comparison of test results to theoretical capacities. The description of the test pile includes the helix configuration and characteristics. Different performance test acceptance criteria were evaluated relative to the ultimate capacity from the load test results. A torque correlation factor, Kt, was determined for each test pile. Both the theoretical bearing and friction capacity was calculated for each test pile.
