River Infiltration as a Source of Ground Water Supply
The characteristics of a ground water supply based on the infiltration of water from a near-by stream are discussed. The effect of changes in river stage upon yield, as well as the effect of changes in river temperature on well field yields, drawdowns, and water temperatures, is revealed through the data presented. The absence of pathogenic bacteria from the ground water despite the contamination of the source of water is shown.
