Variation of Karman Constant in Sediment-Laden Flow
Based on the principle of energy balance and the effective power of suspension-load, a formula for calculating the Karman Constant K in sediment-laden flow is presented. The calculating formula may be used in practice. According to the variablity of sediment effective power, We, the influence of the characteristics of suspension-load on K is as follows: when We is greater than zero, the value of K decreases with the increase of concentration of suspension-load C (mean value); when the value of We<0, the value of K increases with the increase of C (mean value); and when the value of We = 0, the variablity of K has no relation with the value of C (mean value) directly.
