Dynamic Finite Element Analysis of Micropile Foundation in Subgrade
The effect of micropiles on soil reinforcement under static and dynamic loadings was studied. Embankment on untreated soil and treated soil by micropiles were modeled using the finite element code PLAXIS. The displacement caused by embankment static loading and acceleration of the embankment caused by seismic loading were calculated and compared. It was found that micropiles treated soil can greatly reduce the settlement of the embankment and mitigate seismic response of the embankment. The results of this study provide valuable information about the design and application of micropiles.
