The Utilization of Underground Space and Sustainable Development with Regard to the Xi'an Metro
With the beginning of Xi'an Metro's (underground subway) construction, the development of the Xi'an Metro has ushered in a golden era. Underground transportation will bring new changes to both residents' travel behavior and to the city's urban development pattern. Then the development of underground space, using the Metro as the backbone of that larger underground space system, will further promote the level of urban development in Xi'an. We therefore face a new question of how to achieve reasonable functional extension and sustainable utilization of underground space in the construction of the subway. This article discusses this topic in depth and gives some related proposals for the construction of Xi'an's Metro.
