Settlement Prediction and FEM Analysis of Culvert Section under High-Filled Embankment
In order to study the settlement properties of culvert section under high-filled embankment, the settlement of an culvert was monitored in-situ, and established FEM models, the agreement between the model results and the experiment data was excellent, moreover, settlement distribution of the culvert section were gained from the FEM analysis. The exponent curve fitting method is considered as the most effective one for culvert section settlement prediction. The FEM calculation results show that the settlement of culvert is greatly affected by the elastic modulus of the subsoil, when the elastic modulus of the subsoil decreased from 40 to 5MPa, the settlement of the culvert increased 4.39 times, and the elastic modulus of other material are insensitive to the settlement. The Poisson's ratios of the backfill and the subsoil have greater effect on the settlement too. The researches of culvert settlement property give technological references for design and construction.
