Pressure Distribution of Flexible Ecological Retaining Wall of Steep Highway Slope
Based on the analysis of the mechanism of biotechnical slope protection, a new Bioengineering ecological slope protection technology geo-grid flexible retaining wall was put forward. In this paper, combining with the engineering practices in highway slope of Ji-lai Expressway, the design methods of geo-grid flexible retaining wall were given and the effect of its application was studied. According to the in-situ measured data of the earth pressure and the deformation of retaining wall, part of the earth pressure can be released because of the compression deformation and horizontal deformation of retaining wall. The results show that the maximum pressure is located at the one third heights from the bottom of the retaining wall. Compared with the result through the Rankine Theory, the actual pressure is less than Rankine active earth pressure. It can be concluded that the new type of flexible retaining wall has satisfied the requirement of stability and ecological environment of highways. This new flexible ecological retaining wall will have wide application in highway slope engineering.
