Use of Asphaltum for Reservoir Linings
For a number of years past, experiments have been made in rather a small way in various parts of California in the use of asphaltum for reservoir linings, particularly in the southern portion of the State where the natural product abounds in a great variety of forms, from hard rock to liquid "mineral tar," so called, oozing from the ground in springs. The natural properties of asphalt seem to render it a useful material from which to form a water-tight coating for reservoirs.
