Effect of the Crack Prevention of Asphalt Pavement Using Geosynthetics
The objective of this paper is to evaluate the crack resistance of asphalt pavement using geosynthetics reinforcement materials between the surface and the base layer of asphalt pavement. The specimens of geosynthetic-reinfprced asphalt mixtures, which include the two kinds of asphalt and geosynthetics were respectively prepared for testing and evaluation. The three point static bending beam test was carried out at –10 degrees C, and the three point fatigue bending beam test, bending fracture test in the reflection crack test, and shear fracture test were carried out at 5 degrees C, 20 degrees C, and 25 degrees C, respectively. The results show that geosynthetics reinforcement increased the crack resistance of the asphalt pavement system, and that the modified asphalt exhibited increased reinforcement.
