Move that Mountain: The Growth of the Eastside Reservoir Project Dams
The Eastside Reservoir is formed by two earth/rockfill dams located 4.5 miles apart within the Domenigoni/Diamond Valley near Hemet, California. The total embankment volume of over 110 million cubic yards will rank this as the largest rockfill dam project in United States history. This paper discussed the methods and equipment used to produce the materials and to construct these dams. This paper will also describe how the surrounding mountains were literally moved to build the dams.
