The Earthquake Response Analysis of the Niulanjiang Bridge during the 2014 Ludian Earthquake in China
On August 3rd, 2014, the Ludian earthquake in China with the magnitude of 6.5 caused tremendous loss in infrastructure systems. The Niulanjiang Bridge is a high pier bridge, which situates close to the epicenter. In the present paper, the damage features of lifeline system based on field investigations are firstly discussed. Then the earthquake response analysis of the Niulanjiang Bridge is implemented by adopting the real strong ground motions, and the parts which may be dangerous during this earthquake excitation are studied. Finally, some seismic countermeasures for this bridge are proposed.
