Performance Analysis of Heavily Instrumented Flexible Pavement
The objective of this paper is to present preliminary findings of a heavily instrumented flexible pavement's performance in terms of fatigue cracking and permanent deformation. The thin pavement consists of seventeen test sections, 110 structural sensors, 19 environmental sensors, two crushed stone thicknesses, six geosynthetic products, and a fine grained subgrade with soaked CBR values of 1–2. Approximately 2,100 passes of loaded single axle dump trucks applied during a period immediately after construction where miniscule rainfall was observed make up the data set considered. Asphalt Institute transfer functions and Miner's concept were used to compute damages that were compared to distress surveys taken at the test section.
