Seismic Response of an Underground Utility Tunnel under Different Types of Earthquake Wave Excitation
An underground utility tunnel (UUT) FEM model is established under three types of seismic wave incidence - P wave, SV wave and Rayleigh wave - to investigate the influence of the wave type on UUT. It draws the conclusion that SV wave is the key factor resulting in the shallow buried UUT horizontal vibration, while P wave and Rayleigh wave induce the vertical vibration.
