Interdependency Between Seismic Energy Parameters and Damage Indices of Four Types of Mountain Tunnels
To clarify correlation between seismic energy and damage indices of mountain tunnels, comprehensive inelastic seismic analyses are carried out on four types of mountain tunnels (i.e., tunnel with and without inverted arch, tunnel with vertical side walls, and multiple-arch tunnel). To trace the plastic behavior of concrete lining, a viscoplastic-damage model was adopted as the concrete constitutive model. Then, local and overall lining damage indices, as well as the seismic energy inputted and dissipated by tunnels, can be defined and calculated from numerical results. It is found that input seismic energy can provide a good estimation of the overall lining damage evolution time history. In addition, local damage indices are directly proportional to dissipated energy.
