Cutter Soil Mixing Solutions in Portugal
The new Cutter Soil Mixing (CSM) technology has been applied in Portugal since the last two years. The aim of this paper is to present some case histories where the CSM technology was successfully used, emphasizing the main design and execution criteria for foundation and earth-retaining applications. The importance of the quality control and quality assurance, before and during the construction of the final soil-binder panels, is also pointed out . Finally, the technical, economic and environmental advantages of the CSM technique, as compared with some more conventional solutions, are presented.
