Study of Stilling-Basin Design
This paper presents the results of a study, made by means of hydraulic models, to rationalize the design of stilling basins, one of the several devices used for the prevention of scour at the toe of a dam. The relationships between the fundamental factors controlling the action of the stilling basin are carefully compared and, finally, a method of design based upon these relationships is presented.
