An Anisotropic Elastoplastic Bounding Surface Model for New York Bay Clay - A Parametric Study
A parametric study was performed using an anisotropic elastoplastic bounding surface model for New York Bay Clay. The effects of material parameters on the stress path, stress-strain, and excess pore water pressure response were investigated. The set of traditional material parameters of New York Bay Clay was carefully evaluated based on a series of one-dimensional consolidation and triaxial experimental results. It was found that the mechanical behavior of New York Bay Clay was better captured when it was simulated for the tests close to normal consolidation. The traditional material parameters (λ and λ), bounding surface configuration (Nc and Ne), and hardening (w) parameters played a key role in determining the basic shape of stress path, and the elastic nucleus configuration (C and s) and plastic modulus (h) parameters controlled the stress response to reach the critical state line.
