Water-Cooled Roof Incorporating Sprinklers into the Structure: Hong Kong Air Cargo Handling Facility
This paper describes a case study where performance based design has been used for the design of a water cooled roof at a large cargo handling facility at Superterminal 1 Chek Lap Kok Airport, Hong Kong. The Superterminal is some 200m x 200m in plan area and six stories high. This paper includes details of the calculation methodology that was used to assess the adequacy of the design, and of the full-scale fire tests that were performed to back-up the theoretical analysis.
