Postannealing Mechanical Properties of Structural Steel St37
In this paper, an experimental investigation was conducted to study the postannealing behavior of Iranian structural steel. Accordingly, 14 heating regimes were programmed to investigate the influence of peak temperature on the mechanical behavior of Iranian steel during the annealing process. Dumbbell specimens were cut out from a hot-rolled carbon steel profile section. Tensile test results showed that the section components (i.e., the flange and web) were affected in almost a similar way, however, the values of the affected mechanical properties were different. Also, the experiments revealed that the peak temperature experienced by the material has a considerable influence on the postannealing mechanical behavior. Below 600°C, there was seen a negligible decrease in yield and ultimate strength so that the material could regain almost all its nominal strength. The maximum ductility took place at 1,000°C, and the elongation ratios of the specimens were 1.26 and 1.37 times greater than the unheated specimens for the flange and web, respectively.
