History of the Iron Rails upon the Michigan, Southern and Northern Indiana Railway
About 330 miles of this line were laid down in the year 1851, and operated immediately thereafter with a considerable traffic; but, the Company being then engaged in the construction of branch lines, no accurate account of expenses or renewals was kept until the branches were finished, in 1857, when the length of track owned by the Company, including sidings, was 567 miles.
