Optical Current Meter
Stroboscopic device developed to measure surface velocities of water in open channels without immersing equipment in stream; meter is light-weight battery-powered unit consisting of low-power telescope, set of rotating mirrors, variable-speed drive motor, and tachometer; velocity measurements are made from observation point above stream by looking down at water surface through meter while gradually increasing angular speed of rotating mirrors.
