Design of Edge Beams in Slim Floors Using Precast Hollow Core Slabs
The design of edge beams in slim floors using precast hollow core slabs (PCHS) is governed by torsion. Three large scale tests were carried out at the Darmstadt University of Technology and their results will be reported. The test specimens measured 6 m by 6.5 m and were loaded in 36 points. A finite element analysis has been made to assess the behaviour of the beams and to develop the basis for a simple design procedure. This procedure is compared to the FEM and the test results.
