In the theory of elasticity it is sometimes feasible by means of approximate methods to obtain analyses of problems which do not lend themselves readily to exact treatment. This is true in the study of the structural behavior of plates and slabs. It is particularly valid for skew plates and slabs which, so far as the writer knows, have not been analyzed by other than approximate methods in technical literature. The object of this paper is to present a comparison of results acquired for certain skew plates by means of approximate methods involving finite differences, trigonometric series, and power series.
