Use of Systems Analysis in Water Resources Planning
Information is presented on the current use of systems analysis in the actual planning of various kinds of water resource systems. Information was collected from practitioners in the public and private sectors and focused on three basic questions: (1) the extent to which systems analysis is being used; (2) the obstacles to greater use; and (3) its impact on decisions made during the planning process. Based on the information collected it was concluded more information is needed to assist the practitioner in assessing the capability and overall value of systems analysis. Also, in-house applied research activity needs to be increased.
