Alhtough recurrence intervals are of primary interest in frequency analysis of excessive precipitation, present methods average these intervals and thus conceal much design information; by relating probability to recurrence interval instead of rainfall depth, distribution of recurrence interval for preassigned rainfall amount is obtained; this provides additional information for design.
