Study on Countermeasures of the Development of Public Transport in Small and Mid-Sized Cities in China
In recent years, with swift economic development and improvement in the lives of people, the use of private cars in small and mid-sized Chinese cities is becoming more frequent, and traffic pressures are also increasing. At the same time, the progress of public transport is relatively slow. Common problems include insufficient infrastructure, a low density road network, and people’s reluctance to use buses; all hindrances to sustainable and healthy urban development. Based on the analysis of the development status of public transport in small and medium-sized cities, this paper summarizes the problems existing in the development of public transport in small and medium-sized cities, and puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions for solving these problems.
