Moments in Beams by the Method of Partial Moments
This paper presents a method of obtaining moments in restrained or continuous beams by first solving for the moments at each support while placing the load on only one span at a time (partial moments). Then by combining these moments in a prescribed manner, the moments at each support with all the spans loaded are obtained (total moments). Both analytical and geographical solutions are presented.
